Vectorworks Landmarks Landscape Area Tool enables designers to draw and plan defined regions of plant combinations into their projects.

These combinations are created by creating Landscape area styles which contain plant symbols at specified rates, you can create any mix from perennials and shrubs or even have just one species.

Landscape areas can also be used without plant information as components can also be incorporated into the style, for example you could create a mulch component or topsoil component and use the tool to calculate areas and volumes of material.

In more advanced workflows Landscape areas work in conjunction with a site model, the Landscape Areas will conform to the site model surface.

In this lesson we will use a base plan to add Landscape Areas to and work through the functionality of the tool and a concept workflow of moving from 2D/3D concept/schematic to design development.
