Stories are simply a way of organising Design Layers. They are necessary for BIM and they also enable you to create separate boundings, for things like the components in your walls, using Level Types. When designing a building generally you will have several layers that are common to each story, for example, each story will likely have a floor layer, wall layer, ceiling layer etc. Stories let you create these automatically and set their 3D height relative to the height of the story, rather than the ground. This also means if, for example, you need to create a double height entrance level, you simply change the story height and the rest will adjust themselves!

This first section of the Spotlight certification course introduces the
Spotlight workspace, and the tools and commands included. We will
discuss file preferences, Spotlight preferences and resources, and
working with templates. This is primarily a watch-and-take-notes
section.

In this video, we will cover the basics of the Panel Connector Tool.

In this video, we will be exploring the different panning options in Vectorworks.

Railing improvements bring you the flexibility and accuracy you need to create more custom configurations. This more efficient workflow includes styled objects and more creation options that interact with other model objects like slabs, stairs, and site models. The Railing tool will also support guardrails and handrails as well as configurations designed to help you meet building code and accessibility standards.

By using plug-in object styles, you can create plants with a combination of parameters that are determined by style or by instance. Style parameters have a fixed value established by the style; instance parameters can be set independently for each instance of the object in the drawing.
In this course we will look at Plant Styles and there settings along with using the Plant Tool Preferences which allows the setting of individual values of parameters that are set per instance prior to placement.

In Vectorworks Landmark you can create your own library of plants by creating plant styles. Plant styles contain data and settings unique to each plant object. In this video you will learn how to create a plant style from a catalog.

In Vectorworks Landmark you can create your own library of plants by creating plant styles. Plant styles contain data and settings unique to each plant object. In this video you will learn how to create a plant style from selection.

The plant tool enables you to place plants using various placement modes, this video will show how these various modes function along with adjusting parameters via the tools preferences and in the object info palette after placement.

When the specification of your plants has been confirmed, you can edit the plant styles in your project and set up the root ball and excavation pit settings based on the sizes that will be installed onsite. These can be shown in both 2D and 3D, having root ball and excavation pit data helps aid designing and planning around your plants and to use in a BIM workflow for clash detection.

In this course, we will gain an understanding of the Polygon Tool.

In this course, we will explore the Polyline Tool and all of its modes.
