The purpose of this file is to demonstrate a combination of scenic, lighting, event, and production management workflows inside Vectorworks Spotlight. The name of the awards show is the Apex Awards. The show celebrates the highest achievements in innovation, creativity, and success.
The Grotto is a penthouse/rooftop private club project.
Designed on a historic building in Chicago. It incorporates biophilia principles.
Chicago has 509 vegetated roofs with 5,564,000 square feet green roof coverage. Initiatives began in 2001 with their city hall green roof to reduce heat island effect and storm water management.
This file is intended to be used as an example of a simple live performance environment. The main example is the use of Xform items in Vision to control movement to any object in Vision. The included Vectorworks file can be used for adding items such as scenic elements, additional lighting devices, projectors, video screens etc. within the Vectorworks workflow and assigning to Design Layers and Saved Views for organized export with MVR to Vision. In addition there is also a GrandMA 3 Showfile, Exported MVR files and Patch Sheet for the existing elements.
The purpose of this sample file is to showcase models that can be made in Vectorworks Fundamentals. These models are created as 2D/3D (hybrid) symbols that are fully modeled using in-house Vectorworks tools, rendered in Renderworks, and exhibited on sheet layers to show a "fabrication drawing set." There are several saved views and sheet layers to show the models, and the symbols can be shared or imported into other Vectorworks files. Start with the first saved view to begin.
Dover Dam is a residential project located on an existing farm. The project is a 3D BIM model that includes stories, a site with modifiers, hardscapes, marionette objects, interior furnishings, and light fixtures in addition to traditional building objects organized by styles. The documentation makes use of viewport styles, smart markers, data tags, dimensions, callouts, 2D annotation tools, grid lines, elevation benchmarks, graphic legends, worksheets, title blocks, class overrides, and data visualizations specifically to modify and enhance drawings.
The Office Park demo file can be used to explore various tools and features found in Vectorworks Landmark such as plants, hardscapes, landscape areas, graphic legends, viewport styles, and more! It also showcases the ability to import and export Revit files. For instance, the building is a Revit model that has been imported. Make use of the saved views and sheet layers to explore this file.
As a valued member of the Vectorworks community we would like to welcome you to this exploration file, provided by Vectorworks. We provide an overview of the project's objectives below, but to jump straight into exploring the project, we suggest running
through the Saved Views and/or the Sheet Layers. The House Residential sample file consists of 3 files:
The first two, named House in Half an Hour, provide a simple and straightforward way to get to grips with modelling using parametric tools such as Walls, Slabs, Roofs, Windows and Doors. The first file is a template providing a blank slate with guides
and instructions for quick start modelling practice. The second file shows how the model should look like once finished. The third file is a developed stage model that provides an insight into some of the more advanced workflows in Vectorworks - particularly
model data processing. Materials have been used extensively, to provide both graphic attributes to objects and also as means to obtain quantity take offs, which in turn populate our Embodied Carbon Calculator and Bills of Quantities live worksheets.
Energos energy analysis project settings and results can also be explored using this model.
Project organisation in these files includes a generic Storey setup and Design Layers linked with Storey Levels. A Class structure is based on the UK's Uniclass2015. Resources such as Wall Styles which work with Storey Levels can be found in the Resource
Manager. This has been setup so you can immediately start modelling using those resources and project settings.
The CUBE provides a hybrid and “BIM for landscape” workflow demonstration, showing the process of modelling a landscape in an urban context, using Vectorworks Landmark. Parametric tools, intelligent objects, data handling, and creating associated
views from the integrated plan and model are demonstrated as best practice use, to streamline and optimize the site design and modelling process.
The Urban Residence sample file can be used to explore various tools and features found in Vectorworks Landmark such as hardscapes, fences, walls, plants, graphic legends, viewport styles, title blocks, worksheets, and more! Make use of the saved views and sheet layers to explore this file.

This project is for the design and implementation of a renovated AV system of a hotel’s conference center. The conference center consists of 8 breakout rooms (four medium-sized classrooms and four conference-style meeting rooms) and a small technical closet.
One of the classic show planning scenarios that is encountered daily in the event industry is providing the local lighting for a touring band. Typically, the bands rider will spec a 2 or 3 truss line system with lights and possibly a small floor packet. This sample project is designed to show how the Spotlight cable tools suite can be used to plan the cabling and distribution for this sort of day-to-day job. Since this is a focused project, it doesn't include planning rigging or audio, beyond a basic truss count. The sheet layers provide a sample of how the documentation for the on-site crew can be prepared and the saved views enable you to look at how the different elements of the file have been drawn and planned.
